AVERY FAMILY
At
the Southampton Assizes in 1802 John Avery was charged with stealing a
mare. He was found guilty and sentenced
to death but the sentence was commuted to life transportation. He arrived in Van Diemens Land in 1804 with
David Collins on the Calcutta/Ocean.
In
1815 he married Margaret Dann/Mary Dunn, a convict who had arrived been
transported on the Catherine in
1814.

Avery died in Hobart in 1851.
