McTYE
FAMILY
Martin McTighe/McTigue, later known as Martin McTye, was born in County
Mayo, Ireland, in 1826.
He arrived in Tasmania in 1859. His wife Mary (nee HOLLAND) arrived in Tasmania in 1862, accompanied by
their daughter Bridget. A son, Thomas,
was born to the couple in 1864. Mary
died in 1866. Martin McTye remained a
widower for many years before marrying Mary Haines in 1908. Martin McTYE celebrated his 100th
birthday in March 1926. He died in
January 1929.
Thomas McTye, born 1864 at Oatlands, married Martha Ellen BRENNAN
(known as Martha Ellen SMITH) in 1888.
Martha Ellen McTYE died in March 1923 and Thomas McTYE died in
September 1940.
